icon error
Mar 3 2007, 11:06 AM EST
Hello, I use gaim 2 beta 5 (fc6 build) and I have installed the compiled version and activated it in the gaim pref panel.Once in a while awn crashes, but I guess this is awn bug, but what I see as a bug is that when I start the app the icon is the normal one, but if a window pops up (for example automated message from the irc server) a new icon is created in awn and it takes the privileges to change upon change of the status/new messages. I consider this a bug because the main gaim icon is supposed to be changed on events. I still don't find the plugin usable enough for everyday use, maybe a small-letter notice on the icon with the screenname of the buddy that has undread messages plus this status changing fnctionality will be better (like in adium). Anyway its just an idea:) Great idea to expand the functionality of awn, I do not use the notification area plugin anyway and I really would love to see a stable functionality in the awn provided for gaim. Keep with the good work and thanks:) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

First, please use the issues page on the awn-plugins project to file issues and feature-requests (label: Type-enhancement). I'll be checking that page way more than this one, so your suggestions/problems might be unnoticed if posted here... If you don't want to post on the awn-plugins project page another option is to join #awn on irc.gnome.org and tell me there. Of course if I read an issue here I'll try to react to it too...Now onto the problem... What I assume from your story is that a message comes in and the icon from the conversation is updated and not the gaim buddy list icon in gaim. This is a serious bug, related to the fact that I use the '...ByName' exported dbus functions. I have created an issue at http://code.google.com/p/awn-plugins/issues/detail?id=2&can=2&q= . As for the feature requests, I'd be very thankful if you would post them on the awn-plugins project page, because then it's easy for me to keep track of them. Thank you for using the plugin, and I'll make sure the plugin will be of better use in the future. Do you find this valuable? |

2. Pidgin?
May 7 2007, 8:48 PM EDT
A few days ago Gaim became Pidgin and came out of beta status. Is there any chance this plugin could be updated for use with Pidgin?

Scratch that - uploaded an attachment, just changed a few names and added a few more definitions. It seems to be working, do let me know if there are problems.
