Hallo, I often use Firefox, a great browser, and sometimes go to Tools - Options - Security - saved password to read and erase the passwords for the sites that I visit. Do you know if there is a way to shorten this path, maybe insert something in the toolbar to speed up this task? Thank you

I love AWN, but two things i've noticed missing are a) configurable animation speed and b) an option to make windows requiring attention to "jump" on the bar until attended instead of a couple of times - it's easy to miss them.

I installed Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 (via VMWare Fusion 2) on my iMac two days ago, and ran the LiveCD version on an old Dell laptop for the first time this morning (Oz time). So you can't get a newer Linux/Ubuntu newbie than that.
I went looking for a dock application to install on the program as I like it on OS X. I came across AWN, and found how to install it (sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator) which located it and installed, and it now appears in the Applications > Accessories list. However, when I run it, a small window appears for about 0.1 sec and disappears. No dock.
I think it may be because I've not installed a compositing manager (not even sure what that is, yet). Nor do I know how to see if "my X-installation has the Composite extension enabled" (and I don't know what that means, either). I obviously need guidance.
One thing to note, VMWare Fusion doesn't support OpenGL, so that would seem to rule out the Beryl/Compiz Composite.
My simple question: how do I get the AWN dock to show?
Thanks
DN

Any plans for an update for Banshee 1.0? It'd be great, as Banshee is finally starting to look better than Rhythmbox.

I have Avant Window Navigator 0.2.1 on Ubuntu Hardy and when I open an application from the awn launchers instead of opening as a task (in the other side of the separator) is just represented by an arrow in the respective launcher. This just happens with some apps (the ones that are not included in the launchers) how can I change this behavior?

Thanks for putting this together. I tried the instructions you've listed and I got this error:
Error: Missing Dependency: libgcrypt = 1.2.3-1 is needed by package libgcrypt-devel Error: Missing Dependency: libgpg-error = 1.4-2 is needed by package libgpg-error-devel [root@localhost awn]# bzr co http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~awn-core/awn/trunk avant-window-navigator
Can you help me resolve it?? I'm still pretty new to Linux so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks

I would like to be able to activate the menu without having the task manager. I often have 20 open terminals and having an icon for each of them just creates clutter

OK, I downloaded the 2nd tar.gz file (includes the .h file), ran "make" after getting the pidgin source code, ran with no errors, moved the .so file to ~purple/plugins, enabled the AWN plugin in Pidgin, restarted Pidgin, restarted AWN. And?? Still nothing on the awn tray. What am I missing?

It would be nice to have awn just act like an icon bar. JUST an icon bar, with no task manager. So, please do something like that. Thanks.

i just find one thing to be changed in AWN mainly...when you set AWN to flash the icon when application requires attention...and then you make a skype call...now if the skype call window is not focused ....the skype icon keeps flashing until the call ends...mainly because its window title keeps changing...can we have an option to disable icon flashing for skype call window.
