Launchers and tasks are now separated! Launchers on the left and tasks on the right. You can choose whether or not to have a visible separator between the two. Check my blog for screenshots.

I am assuming you want a way to distinguish between launchers and windows that are already open. To my knowledge awn already has this. Launchers have arrows under them, and open windows don't.
