For those of you that are like me and don't want the gaim systray icon I'm making a plugin that should obsolete the use for the systray in gaim. Currently it only changes icons according to precense and on/offline status, but I'll be working on it to provide all functionality the systray icon has...
Update
More of the functionality that is provided by the systray icon now also works with my plugin. The plugin now shows when it's connecting, status display and received messages. No blink support yet, and I'm working on more nice stuff, just keep polling this page for new versions...
As for now I only provide source code (one file, put in the gaim gtk/plugins/ folder, edit the makefile so CFLAGS includes dbus stuff and do 'make gaim_awn.so') that can probably only be properly compiled with gaim sources and my own compiled version which you can just put in ~/.gaim/plugins
Download the attachments (they're down this page, look carefully) and have fun!
P.s. even if you are a coder, I don't need any help on this plugin right now. Because I'm not yet thinking about setting up svn or anything I think it's better if you all just wait a couple of days so I can include more features. - mycroes
