Evolution Plugin

This Plugin for evolution + imap or pop3.

This plugin shows when new messages income, changing the icon of evolution to show the number of unread messages.
You can run it manually or let in the session startup by System -> Preferences -> Sessions

Please test and leave some comment and feedback

Changes 25/03/2007:

  • Pop3 support
  • Now can close and reopen awn and it still works
  • Fixed bug, if your connection dropped
  • Add alert if mail server down
  • Log to file

...which is great, 'cuz we use exchange here, so making it listen to DBus events is perfect. It doesn't seem to be able to "switch back" to the original icon when there are no more unread messages, though. Maybe I just don't have it setup right yet. I don't know python, but maybe this is the chance for me to learn!

I have attached another plugin that notifies AWN when Evolution has unread mail.

To use it, you have to set up new_mail_icon and, if you like it, add it to system startup (System -> Preferences -> Sessions)

please forgive my poor english, i'm italian, infact isn't a real plugin, i saw that evolution have a nice plugin call "new mail checker" it send a D-BUS signal when a new mail arrive in the programm, it will be nice to intersect that signal to build a new plugin!!!

I also have to say that this is not a plugin... Of course it's nice that you made an email checker, but it'd be better to list this as a seperate program. Also a big difference between being a plugin or a seperate app is that a plugin wouldn't need to connect by itself. It's good work though and I havea suggestion too... Maybe you can make it more universal so people can display their unread mail count on any awn icon?

Just like mrrubino's script, but has an optional list to restrict which folders are monitored.
