...which is great, 'cuz we use exchange here, so making it listen to DBus events is perfect. It doesn't seem to be able to "switch back" to the original icon when there are no more unread messages, though. Maybe I just don't have it setup right yet. I don't know python, but maybe this is the chance for me to learn!

I have attached another plugin that notifies AWN when Evolution has unread mail.
To use it, you have to set up new_mail_icon and, if you like it, add it to system startup (System -> Preferences -> Sessions) Thanks for this great forum |

please forgive my poor english, i'm italian, infact isn't a real plugin, i saw that evolution have a nice plugin call "new mail checker" it send a D-BUS signal when a new mail arrive in the programm, it will be nice to intersect that signal to build a new plugin!!!
